Entity linking, also known as named-entity linking (NEL), is the process of assigning a unique identity to entities mentioned in text, such as famous individuals or locations. It distinguishes between different entities with the same name, unlike named-entity recognition (NER) which only identifies the occurrence of a named entity without specifying its specific identity.
