Internet Exchange Points (IXPs)

Internet exchange point

Internet exchange points (IXPs) are locations where Internet service providers (ISPs) can exchange data with each other, reducing the need for traffic to be delivered through upstream transit providers. IXPs improve routing efficiency and fault-tolerance by providing multiple paths for data to travel. They operate as independent associations of participating networks and are an alternative to private peering.
