Transport Layer Security

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptographic protocol used to secure communication over a computer network, with its most visible use being in securing HTTPS. It aims to provide security, privacy, integrity, and authenticity through the use of cryptography between communicating computer applications. TLS is an IETF standard, with the current version being TLS 1.3, and it builds upon the deprecated SSL specifications developed by Netscape Communications.
