Sampling bias is a type of bias that occurs when a sample is collected in such a way that some members of the intended population have a higher or lower probability of being selected. This can lead to incorrect results if not accounted for, as it can be attributed to the phenomenon under study rather than the sampling method. It is also sometimes referred to as ascertainment bias.
