The conditional probability distribution of Y given X is the probability distribution of Y when X is known to be a particular value. It can be represented as a conditional probability table for categorical variables, or a conditional density function for continuous variables. The conditional distribution contrasts with the marginal distribution of a random variable. It can also refer to the conditional distribution of a subset of more than two variables.
