Independent Random Variables

Independence (probability theory)

Independence is a concept in probability theory, statistics and stochastic processes. Two events or random variables are independent if the occurrence of one does not affect the probability of the other. Mutual independence refers to all events in a collection being independent of each other, while pairwise independence means any two events are independent. Mutual independence implies pairwise independence.
