Grammar is the set of structural constraints on how speakers and writers compose words, phrases, and clauses. It is acquired through hearing other speakers, and can be studied through traditional or theoretical grammar. Grammar can also refer to the linguistic behavior of groups of speakers and writers, or to a set of prescriptive norms.
