In mathematics, the codomain of a function is the set where all the function's output falls. It is denoted as Y in the notation f: X → Y and is sometimes ambiguously referred to as the range. The image of a function, which is a subset of its codomain, consists of all elements of the form f(x), where x ranges over the elements of the domain X.
