KQML is a language and protocol used for communication between software agents and knowledge-based systems. Originally designed as an interface to knowledge-based systems, it was later repurposed as an agent communication language. KQML allows for interactions between agents through performatives and facilitates knowledge sharing among agents. However, it has been superseded by FIPA-ACL.
