ARP (Address Resolution Protocol)

Address Resolution Protocol

ARP is a communication protocol used to map an internet layer address (e.g. IPv4) to a link layer address (e.g. MAC address). It has been implemented with many different network and data link layer technologies. In IPv6 networks, ARP is replaced by the Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP).
