Latency

Latency (engineering)

Latency is the time delay between cause and effect in a physical system, or the lag between input and response in a simulation. It is limited by the speed of light and affects user satisfaction in human-machine interaction. Latency also limits the maximum rate of information transmission in two-way communication systems.
