The transport layer is a division of methods in the layered architecture of protocols in the Internet protocol suite and the OSI model. It provides end-to-end communication services such as connection-oriented communication, reliability, flow control, and multiplexing. The best-known protocols are TCP and UDP, which are implemented in every major operating system. Additional protocols include DCCP and SCTP.
